A couple of weeks ago we caught wind of Peter Molyneux's plans to release 22 Experiments under his new studio 22 Cans. While the original news was quite vague, to the point that a release platform wasn't even announced, today we have confirmation that Molyneux has lost his mind.
Curiosity is coming to PC and mobile platforms in approximately six weeks, and will be the first of 22 experiments that will eventually shape the final design of 22 Cans' first release.
The game will place all players in the same virtual room containing a single black cube, with users tapping away at it causing fractures. Eventually the cube will crack open, revealing something truly awesome inside, and the person who delivers the final blow will get to keep that item.
Players will be able to purchase in-game chisels of varying strength and price to increase their power and chance of being the person who cracks open the cube. While iron chisels are affordable, there is one diamond chisel that will cost $78,293 AUD.
It's an insane amount of money. This is not a money-making exercise; it is a test about the psychology of monetisation." - Peter Moluneux, 22 Cans
Molydeux, can you do something about this insanity?
