SimCity producer, Jason Haber, has said that the game is being made with accessibility in mind so as to cater to a wide variety of gamers.
When asked what the biggest inspiration was for the series, Mr Haber said that every previous SimCity game provided plenty of influence, but that SimCity 2000 had the biggest affect on development.
"I think our biggest influence is probably SimCity 2000," said Mr Haber. "That was the biggest influence for us, because we felt like that was probably the, really the most accessible SimCity experience.
"We really wanted to make sure that this entry was that accessible."
Mr Haber also said that gamers will be able to "peer into" the thoughts of Sims living in the game's created virtual cities.
"Sometimes Sims may even come to you as Mayor and ask you for what they want, for specific things," explained Mr Haber. "From there you can choose to accept or ignore them or just turn them off completely."
SimCity is expected to launch on PC in early 2013.
