- Schafer says he has pitched Psychonauts 2 several times with no success
- Notch offers to put up the cash to make it happen
- Schafer doesn't respond publicly
Psychonauts is one of those games that is insanely good, but never quite made it in terms of sales or popularity. If you're like us, we've always wanted a sequel that would expand on Raz's telekinetic adventures, and it seems the series creator has been thinking about it too. Tim Schafer recently mentioned to Digital Spy that he's pitched Psychonauts 2 several times to different publishers with no success.
I’d love to do that game, but I’d have to convince someone to just give me a few million dollars, that’s all.”
- Tim Schafer, Double Fine
That's where a certain indie developer has stepped in and made an offer via Twitter. Markus "Notch" Persson, the man behind the impossibly successful Minecraft, has offered to fund the project overnight via his Twitter account.
Let’s make Psychonauts 2 happen,"- Notch
He later sent a tweet to Rock, Paper, Shotgun to confrim the validity of his offer.
I’m serious.”
How did Schafer respond?
It's always unsettling to wake up to five text messages that say "You'd better check your Twitter." - Tim Schafer
So now fans across the globe are waiting with bated breath to see how this pans out. This could be exciting times, very exciting times indeed.
