A few weeks ago there were rumours swirling around that Prey 2 had been cancelled. Bethesda have made an official announcement today stating that the game has "not been cancelled".
The official word is that the sequel to the 2006 shooter "will not be released in 2012", and the reason for the delay being that at this point the game doesn't match Bethesda's "quality standards."
"The delay is due to the fact that game development has not progressed satisfactorily this past year," reads the official statment. Despite the game showing "great promise," the publisher is "unwilling to compromise our quality standards to meet a release schedule."
Sounds like Bethesda may be a little worried after the fizzle that was id Software's RAGE last year.
