There are 54 million PC gamers worldwide, with that figure expected to rise to 72 million by 2015, according to Jon Peddie Research.
The "performance" and "enthusiast" class PC gamers are being pulled to the Windows platform because of driving chip development by AMD, Intel and Nvidia, and new hardware from Alienware, HP, Lenovo, just to name a few.
Component and accessories companies like ASUS, EVGA, Corsair, Logitech and MadCatz are also strongly contributing to a growing PC gaming market, which is expected to grow to $32 billion in revenue by 2015.
