Valve accidentally bans 12,000 non-cheating Modern Warfare 2 players

Steam anti-cheating software has accidentally banned over 12,000 legit Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players in the past two weeks.

The players weren't cheating and were banned as a result of a glitch in the software. To be exact Valve president Gabe Newell explains, "the problem was that Steam would fail a signature check between the disk version of a DLL and a latent memory version."

Newell takes complete responsibility and apologizes for any frustration if might have caused. To make up for it, anyone who was affected will receive a free copy of Left 4 Dead 2.

Well the really interesting thing there guyver the software didnt screw up it was a fault with your connection. But you fixed that now, so Valve wont compensate you for that.

to be fair, the only real things that went wrong with that game have been lag, no dedi-servers and now this.
If it wasn't for those it would have been a solid game, although somewhat identical to cod4.
