Update 19/03/2013: 505 Games has revealed Ashes Cricket 2013 will be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows PC and Wii U.

The focus is on the upcoming Ashes series, including the officially licensed Australia and England Test teams. However, short form games are also possible featuring teams from all over the world.

Batsmen have 360 degree control over shot placement, and will face a "new line and length bowling system".

Play begins in Ashes Cricket 2013 on June 21, 2013.

Original story 02/10/2012: 505 Games has announced Ashes Cricket 2013 ahead of the fierce battle which will kick off in England next year, and then continue in the Australian summer.

Ashes Cricket 2013 is being developed in Melbourne by Trickster Games for consoles and Windows PC. It includes the official licenses of the English and Australian teams.

"The oldest rivalry in the sport recommences on 10th July 2013, with the back to back Ashes Series in the UK and Australia," said Ralph Pitt-Stanley, General Manager for UK & Export at 505 Games. "It’s a really exciting time to be working with the ECB, Cricket Australia and such a great development partner as Trickstar on this product and we can’t wait to share more details with fans everywhere."

Luke Bould, Head of Marketing at Cricket Australia, added: "The launch of the new Ashes Cricket 2013 is an important step in bringing fans closer to the game than ever before. Gaming is an important part of cricket's entertainment offering and plays a role in achieving our objective to be Australia's favourite sport. 2013 is a huge cricket year, with back to back Ashes series, and we look forward to seeing the tradition and excitement of the Ashes brought to life through Ashes Cricket 2013."

The most recent Ashes game was released in 2009, and followed by International Cricket 2010, which was also developed by Trickster Games and published by Codemasters.

I really hope they don't screw this up.
I liked Ashes 2009, International Cricket 2010 was basically the same game with coloured kits.
I hope they do something exciting with this one.
Maybe one day they can put in a career mode where you have to perform for the local clubs to move up into the international stage.

Sounds like they're not even going to get all the other team licenses again. Stupid dodgy names. [Shifty]

Also - give the bowlers better bowling actions! Sick of them looking like they wouldn't get a game in Z grade. Shane Warne Cricket '99 had better animations than this for the most part.

I agree in that th event cricket games were years ago. All I want is just this one feature......

Saved online games.

I had played a fair few games against various mates over the net and had heaps of fun. Would love to have the stupidly long test matches and play an hour at a time etc.....

it worked okay for super international cricket (snes) and that was great. :P

but I agree on your point and yeah get better bowling actions.

Bowlers should be given their own unique realistic bowling actions like their real life avatars......bring in some Cricket legends, Legends mode should be there......graphics need to be improved badly......Brian Lara 99 had the best gameplay in the history of crcket games, hope this surpass that

Kind of surprised about the Wii U release.

ASHES CRICKET 2013 includes a brand new game engine creating a truly authentic gaming experience. Batsmen have 360 degree control over shot placement, requiring impeccable placement and timing to build an innings. A new line and length bowling system gives bowlers the tools to set plans for batsmen throughout a day’s play and players have complete freedom to set a field of their choice. For those who prefer to be led however, there are options for intelligent automatic field placement.

Connoisseurs of the game will be able to play the complete Ashes Series, with official England and Australia teams, however those more interested in the short form of the game can take on the rest of the world in limited overs tournaments and leagues."
