Despite not reaching $1 million on Kickstarter for their Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse campaign, Revolution Software has confirmed that Beneath A Steel Sky 2 is go for launch.
The studio initially asked for $400,000 to fund the fifth instalment in the Broken Sword series, and set a stretch goal of $1 million to produce a sequel to the cult adventure. They managed to raise just over $800,000, which according to studio co-founder Tony Warriner, is close enough.
“We’re delighted by the recent level of interest in a sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky and are currently discussing design ideas for this project, which we plan to go into development following the release of Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse. We’re deeply touched that our Steel Sky fans are as enthusiastic today as they were when the original game released in 1994.”
While no official date has been announced for Beneath A Steel Sky 2 as yet, gamers can expect to get their hands on the next Broken Sword early next year.
