Variety have reported that Blood Diamond writer Charles Leavitt will be penning the film adaption of Blizzard's iconic MMO, World of Warcraft.
The news comes after fears of a development stall after director Sam Raimi (of Spider-Man fame) was revealed to no longer be attached to the project last month.
The film has been in the works since at least 2009 when Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan) was announced as the initial writer, and it doesn't appear as though we'll be seeing the film until 2014 at the earliest.
Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick said of the lengthy development process, "It's important to Blizzard, it's important to me. They're very excited about having a 'World of Warcraft' film. They've been very careful and thoughtful about the development process."
