After Deus Ex's success on pc and the consoles, it seems we can also expect a movie based on the game soon.
CBS films has picked up the movie rights for Deus Ex and is now working closely with Eidos Montreal and Square Enix to make the adaptation as close to the original video game series as possible. Film producers Roy Lee, known for 'The Departed' and Adrian Askarieh, known for his work on several Square Enix film projects, such as Hitman, Just Cause and Kane and Lynch, will be in charge of the project.
In the movie main character Adam Jensen, an EX-SWAT security specialist needs to embrace 'mecanical augments' which have replaced much of his body in 2027. Villains are performing an attack on a company that makes mecanical augments, and this seems tangled around a global conspiracy. This means we can expect there to be enough sci-fi butt kicking.
We hear of many film adaptations of games, but few receive the merit of a good movie. But CBS films is planning to change this; they are hoping to make a great movie 'worthy' of the Deus Ex franchise. As to now, CBS is still looking for a filmmaker to tackle the project and it is unknown who will play the role of protagonist Adam Jensen.
