Cop caught taking picture of Need for Speed Lambo

EA has been cruising around town in the "Most Wanted Taxi" Lamborghini this week to promote the launch of Need for Speed Most Wanted today.

As you would expect, it's created a buzz around Sydney, so much so that a police officer was caught using his phone to take a picture while behind the wheel.

New laws in NSW introduced today make it illegal to touch your phone at all when you're in the driver's seat, unless it's mounted to the car.

Talk about bad timing.

According to Facebook group Street FX, when asked about the incident, the police officer replied: "We're exempt from that rule, mate."

While that's true, police are only exempt if they're using their phone for work purposes. As far as we're aware, these aren't the cops in Need for Speed.

Most other states already have similar laws.

Unless you can date this photo with todays date the police officer did nothing wrong
Who cares if an officer is doing this 5 minutes later they were probably saving or protecting a persons life. They do an amazing job everyday so something like this should be brushed off not made a big deal about.

I hope they got a good photo and can take it home and so their kids.
That cop should be disciplined for his actions by suspend his donut rations for a week.
The real question is:

Who took the photo of the cop taking a photo?¿? :O
wonder if he'd loose any demerit points!!

Cops are above the law now?
He could use the excuse that he needed a photo of the driver.

No but it's not a big deal, it's not something major so I just don't feel it needs to be made into a big deal, Police officers get so much hate on them it's not funny.

So it's not a big deal for anyone else to do the same, While behind the wheel of (by looks of the photo) a stationary vehicle in traffic? Which you can see the traffic light is green, So by the time the officer would put his phone down he should've already been driving. Interesting. Now, If the traffic light was red, Then maybe, Just maybe, I'd understand.

BTW, Alot of police do bring on the hate themselves, Since i've turned 18 (back in April) i've noticed a BIG change in how police tend to treat an underage person to an adult.
Given the amount of other drivers I see who text and talking on their phones while driving, I simply REFUSE to believe that anybody can honestly be upset / assume that the policeman in question is corrupt.

If it was moving traffic I'd understand.. but yeah, everybody does it, so for someone to say the cop should be disciplined.... [Facepalm]

Who said he's corrupt?
If he was 'caught' breaking the law he should get a fine or whatever, it's silly to say he's a cop and does a good job so should get away with it.

I honestly dont give a shit about this
People talking about cops being above the law etc. etc.. rubbish.

(Like you I couldn't care less, but yeah)

So the whole article is rubbish, Since we are in fact discussing a part of the article?
well i don't exactly consider all facebook groups to be highly credible myself.
They were there, Were you?

That's the only bit of information we have regarding the discussion at hand in the comments. Credible or not, It's better than nothing.

But you have your opinion, I have mine. :)
This article should've been more about the Lamborghini imo. And the game, of course.
So many stupid comments. Police officers are exempt from the mobile phone rule because they do need phones with them and they can use them whilst driving, even if not necessary.

this.
This is ridiculous, and the fact that this is a news piece is laughable.

Or bashing a ethnic person and accusing them for drug possesion and resisting arrest.
Breaking no law here, There exempt
Gonna become a police officer now. Just so i can talk on my phone while driving. Cause i'm exempt from the law.
