Remember Steam'd Penguins, the cleverly named project from Valve that will see a series of their games ported to Linux, the first being Left 4 Dead 2? Well according to their latest round of testing, the zombie shooter is running better of the penguin-fuelled OS than its native Windows home.
The Linux version is running at 315 frames per second while the Windows speed is maxing out at 270.6. While speeds at that point are mostly arbitrary, it goes a long way to show the potential of gaming on the Linux platform. Apparently working on Linux has been helping Valve unlock the secrets to Windows, with the team bumping up the speed of OpenGL to 303.4 FPS.
