Mojang, the studio behind Minecraft, has revealed that it almost made a first person shooter.
The now cancelled project was a collaboration between Mojang and another developer, which is exactly why it was canned during the prototype stage.
Mojang boss Markus "Notch" Persson told Joystiq that he didn't like being dependent on another company.
"The success of Minecraft meant we could focus on projects fully owned by us," said Persson, rather than being forced to collaborate on projects.
However, Persson said that Mojang is open to working with other developers, so long as the motive is not all about money.
