NBA Live 13, EA Sports' reboot of the popular basketball game franchise that ended with NBA Live 10, has been cancelled, the publisher confirmed today.
EA Sports executive vice president, Andrew Wilson, said the decision was tough, but it was necessary to make a stronger brand moving forward.
"When we started the process of bringing back NBA LIVE, we knew it was going to be a long journey," he said. "But making great games is not easy, and we're just not there yet on NBA LIVE 13."
The development team had engaged with community and fans more than ever on the project, according to Mr Wilson, and everyone felt like they were "on the right track".
"Having continued to look at the game over the past few days, it's clear that we won't be ready in October."
Mr Wilson also said that EA Sports was "committed to delivering new innovation in online", and that great gameplay "remains a huge priority" for the series moving forward.
