Currently the project has doubled that with over 2 millon dollars supported by 47,500 pledges with only a 'measly' 19 days to go...
As a result: stretch goals - development milestones made possible by raising more money and now the question remains, how big a success will the game be.
Hitting the 2 million dollar mark means Obsidian will add personal houses in the game where you can customize, store equipment in, hang out, or, as the elves say, "chillax". Obsidian will also add new NPCs, a store with unique new armor, clothing and weapons and.... more quests to adventure on.
For linux fans, the 'wishes of the Tarball Knights of Gzippia' have been fulfilled and a linux version is a go.
The next "stretch goal," at $2.2 million, will add a new faction, new companion and translations into French, German and Spanish, while $2.3 million will add the new "Godlike" races, similar to the planetouched races of Dungeons & Dragons, and three different gameplay modes: Expert, Trial of Iron and Path of the Damned. Trial of Iron will give players just one single save spot for the entire campaign that's deleted if they die, while Path of the Damned will be akin to Icewind Dale's ridiculous Heart of Fury mode, making combat "much more difficult for everyone involved."
Further goals have yet to be determined but at this pace they might want to think about some new ones! Suggestions have been no DRM pass the 2.4 million dollar mark
