OnLive game streaming coming to Ouya

The team behind Ouya have revealed via their kickstarter page that they will be partnering with cloud gaming service OnLive to bring online game streaming to the upcoming console.

"We are pleased to announce that OnLive will be available on OUYA at launch, extending and building on our commitment to make the best games available to everyone, everywhere."

"OnLive will deliver a full console-class experience, bringing hundreds of top-tier games from more than 80 publishers to the OUYA console for play on demand. "OUYA owners will be able to jump in and play any of these games both at home on their OUYA console, and on the go on PCs, Macs, tablets and phones, never leaving a game behind."

No word yet on whether the service will be available in Australia upon Ouya's release.

I think quite the opposite. Considering how much interest and money this kickstarter project has already produced. I think it's destined to succeed. Sure, it won't challenge the big players, but I think there is definatley an audience out there looking for something just like this.

Quite agree. Yeah it's made a whole lotta dollar on kickstarter but an audience of 44,000 people isn't exactly a lot looking at it on a global scale.
It doesn't have the branding nor the games that people want to play on their big screen TVs, Onlive to me sucks so thats no big scoop. The specs arn't exactly mindblowing plus it's ugly. Nah it'll get a small following like NeoGeo or something but nothing major.

Think about how many people know about/use kickstarter. 44k is quite a lot I think. And >$5mil from only 44,000? sounds pretty good.

I think ill wait until it gets released next year, I don't want to get something with no games of interest, like the PSVita. It's pretty good for that price though

Personally, I have this feeling that Sony could release their next console running some sort of Android build (considering their phone and tablet tech). Ouya could be a good example (or guinea pig) for Sony to gauge on whether this sort of route could work.
And Sony did also acquire an OnLive type company as well...

But like all Androids, hacks can be made and it could lead to piracy....
