On Friday we were pleasantly surprised to hear that Interceptor Software are rebooting Rise of the Triad, a classic shooter from the mid 90's. Now we're even more thrilled to hear that it will only cost gamers a cool $14.99, will have free post-launch DLC and will be 100% DRM free!
Focus at this stage is to remain faithful to the original Rise of the Triad and release the core game, but after that point, Interceptor are ready to go a little crazy with the add-ons. According to Dave Oshry, the Marketing Director from Interceptor, one of the most requested features has been co-op support, which is something that the devs are seriously considering. Another has been for the introduction of shotguns, which could certainly be a nice touch considering the original game didn't feature a single Boomstick.
Other handy things to know: the game will be compeltely moddable, run at 60 frames per second, will have plenty of tweaking options to run on older hardware and will be available as a digital download only sometime towards the end of the year, or very early next year. Who's excited?
