It's been quite a while since I've written about Sir, You Are Being Hunted, a procedurally stalking game which features a number of classy robots in tweed jackets. Big Robot have let loose with a big update, telling us a little more about this intriguing project.
The game is almost at the state where the team can shoot some in-game footage showing off the AI and hunting mechanics. Filling the shoes of a human, players will need to scavenge tools and stay out of sight to survive. Sounds like my kind of game!
Until the last week or so, our robotic gents had only basic senses, reacting with too-inhuman speed and precision to the sights and sounds of our procedural world. We’ve recently completed another pass on these senses allowing them to be modified by bot-specific variables so that our hunters act with more personality, and behave more interestingly as you sneak and fight.”
Players will be presented with a steath meter; hiding in longer grass will give you less chance of being spotted.
If you are laying still in long grass they will not see you until they get very close, but you might give yourself away by moving. You will be able to sneak quite effectively, but it will also be a skill that players will master as they play.”
We'll keep you posted as Big Robot keep releasing these small updates, but we can't wait to be hunted after reading this latest update.
