It was over a year ago we first heard that Steam's Big Picture interface would head into beta sometime soon, however we never thought it would be coming this year. This is Valve after all, and long waits are kinda what they do best.
According to the New York Times, Steam Big Picture interface will officially enter into the beta phase tomorrow for Australian gamers.
What the hell are we talking about? It's a custom interface specifically created for use on big screen televisions. It's being designed with controller-based navigation in mind, and will be Valve's first step into the living room.
We don't know if testing will be open to everyone or on an invitation basis. We'll keep you updated as more info comes to light.
