Telltale Games' The Walking Dead will be released in physical disc format on December 4 in North America for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The company recently tweeted that European retail dates are still to be announced.
The five-part episodic game is more faithfully based on the universe of Robert Kirkman's comic The Walking Dead rather than the television adaptation. Check out our review of Episode 3, the latest to be released, which Heller praised as having "continually blown us away with their [Telltale] excellent adaption of The Walking Dead in video game form, choosing to focus on character development and emotions rather than killing and maiming zombies."
You can download the first three episodes of The Walking Dead via Steam, PSN and Xbox Live, though us Australians have to download them via U.S. or EU accounts due to Telltale not bothering with submitting their game through Australia's OFLC rating laws, which is (thankfully) due to be changed to introduce an R18+ rating as of January 1, 2013.
However, the physical release of The Walking Dead still falls under this year, so it's safe to assume if you want to buy a disc-based copy of the game, you best import from overseas.
