THQ files for bankruptcy, continuing to make games

THQ has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. However, it will continue to operate as normal and release all planned games during the bankruptcy process.

Those games include Metro: Last Light, South Park: The Stick of Truth, Company of Heroes 2 and Homefront II.

All studios remain open and development is continuing as normal.

"The sale and filing are necessary next steps to complete THQ’s transformation and position the company for the future, as we remain confident in our existing pipeline of games, the strength of our studios and THQ’s deep bench of talent," said CEO Brian Farrell.

Chapter 11 means it has secured funding from an outside investor. MGM, the distributor of Skyfall, used a similar method of refinancing two years ago.

Regarding who buys up the IP held by THQ.
Nintendo should buy all of those games mainly to piss off PS3 and XBOX fans.

agree they would probaby act the someway they did when the found out Bayonetta 2 is a Wii U exclusive

Guess it sort of explains the latest humble bundle, a last grab for cash maybe.

This really sucks, THQ might not be a massive name like Activision or EA but they are one of the last great publisher/developers and who aren't dicks putting crappy DRM on their games, they know steam is enough.
We'll never see Saints Row 4 :*O

damn i was really impressed with WWE 12 and WWE 13. I wonder who will take over the wrestling franchise now.
