TimeSplitters 4 doesn't have enough fans according to Crytek

Despite a valliant effort via a Facebook campaign to get TimeSplitters 4 off the ground, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli doesn't feel there is enough of a fan base to warrant a new game at this stage.

I tested through my official blog to see how big the TimeSplitters community is, and while the volume of responses was quite high, we feel it's not high enough yet.

"That being said, it did indeed trigger a deeper evaluation of what we do with TimeSplitters, and I can only say this for now: We might have some surprises coming soon." Cevat Yerli, Crytek

Crytek has put their primary focus onto free-to-play titles according to Yerli, which kicked off with Warface and Crytek's new social gaming service, GFACE. Time will tell if we see TimeSplitters show up via their social network at some point in the future.

It was never going to be high enough. No way anyone invests in a new Timesplitters at this point. The only publisher that would is Sony, and that would make it a PS3 exclusive, and I doubt Crytek would be keen on that.

What a shame.

Google doesn't lead me to any blog of his. If he's referring to his Twitter feed, he only has 2k followers (a fair few being industry guys) so of course the numbers won't seem high enough.

What a load of shit, does he really thing Crysis has more fans? I find that pretty hard to believe, and the only way I would come at that would be that Crysis has not gone off the radar yet so has more brand recognition. Timesplitters never made it big because there was not enough marketing behind it and not enough buzz, the game was always quality and anyone who gave it time of day knows that.

Crysis rides too much on its graphics, the first game was ****ing bland and terrible. It only EVER got the reputation it did for being the ultimate system killer, and basically the last true PC game for many, many years. It was an alright game but no one would have given half a **** about it if it didn't look so ridiculously good and didn't push a PC to its limit.
