Could the Steam Box be alive and well? Valve's in-house hardware hacker Jeri Ellsworth told Engadget that she hopes to hold an external beta test, tied to Steam, for Valve's first hardware product next year. Internal betas have already been going on in the Seattle offices apparently.
She didn't reveal exactly what Valve had up their sleeves, but said their goal is "to make Steam games more fun to play in your living room." Considering the release of Big Picture mode just last week it could be a controller, a strange mouse and keyboard contraption, or perhaps a super affordable console type contraction.
We'll keep you posted as more develops.
