Historically, women watch more television than men, who are probably busy secretly talking about feelings and commitment or something. However, the gender gap is closing, as men are spending more time in front of a TV screen playing console games.
Research in the US published by Nielsen shows, on average, women aged 18-34 spend an extra 37 minutes watching television per day compared to their male counterparts.
However, when TV viewing and playing console games on a TV set are combined, that comes down to just 11 additional minutes by women.
The male figure jumped from 3 hours and 34 minutes per day of watching television, to 4 hours and 22 minutes including video games. The girls are also gaming, although not quite as much, with their time increasing from 4 hours and 11 minutes of TV to 4 hours and 33 minutes of TV and games.
We can also gauge that the average American household still spends considerably more time watching TV than playing games.
