Worst Passwords of All Time?

by TrblyXlent Featured 26 Comments 44 Votes 1031 Views 28/10/2012 Back to News
Sometimes it seems that nobody cares about the vulnerability of their password. Despite hackers everywhere, people still continue to put weak passwords.

Apparently, the list of worst passwords (below) was compiled from files containing millions of stolen passwords posted online by hackers. This information was gained so that the list highlights the importance of choosing a strong password.

If you would like to check how strong or weak your password is, click here .

The list of the top 25 worst passwords (passwords that have been gained by hackers the most times) is here:

That's Hackers right? The bad guy says it
As a guy who goes into the office, tries to do work and ends up annoying most of the MMGN staff, I can confirm that the master password to every account is password123.

Actually I don't even know if we have a master password. That'd be cool though.
It's like the skeleton key of MMGN.

Also, it's not like they're doing any work in the first place. :P
111111 lol. That used to be my old gmail password.
What's with ashley and michael?

Must be common names for BF/GF.

Lol... Plenty of the passwords on the list have been old passwords of mine... I changed all my passwords!
I still trustno1
Looking at that one made me lol!! xD
I changed my password to "incorrect" so now when I forget it, my computer reminds me.

Good thing 246810 was not up there. *quickly changes password*
I still like the old joke where a guy tells his secretary to make his password, Penis.

Computer : Sorry your password is too short [MOG]

Haha... Lol, nice!

I fix computers for a living, and most people's passwords are not on that list (though always a few that are). What does constitute about 90% of the passwords out there is either the name of a pet or a child. The other 10% use numbers that were important to them, old phone numbers and street addresses and such. When someone comes in and has forgotten their password, I can figure it out nearly half the time by just getting some pretty basic info from them.
If you want a really secure password that's easy to remember, use a phrase, then change it a little like add a number to the end of every word, change out letters for numbers, and/or capitalize the last letter of each word.
Cheers from Frisco, CO
Seems like admin should be on that list somewhere, it's the default password for a lot of routers out there.
they forgot "Incorrect" :D so when you type it wrong- the page/program tells you what it is :D

Update: just realised someone already posted it xD

The above passwords are not the most common - they are the most often hacked... :)
