Remember that other XCOM title that was set to be a first-person shooter? New screens sent across to Kotaku seem to show that the game has shifted gears considerably, dropping the FPS gameplay in favour of a squad-based third person shooter.
A consumer survey backs these claims and also asked responders if they would be happier with a lower price point, set at $30 instead of $60 which suggests this could very well be a downloadable title.
2K have responded to the latest leak:
We have not made any new announcements regarding the XCOM title currently in development at 2K Marin, and it is our policy not to comment on rumors or speculation.”
